Andrew Georgiou has been designated as the new chief of WBD’s media business in the countries of UK and Ireland. In addition to his appointment, he also retains his post as president and MD of WBD Sports Europe, which operates both Eurosport across Europe and TNT Sports in the UK and Ireland.
His position would require him to manage brands including Discovery, TLC, Quest, Quest Red, Really, Cartoon Network, Eurosport and the newly launched TNT Sports, as well as WBD’s streaming service Discovery+.
Additionally, he is also responsible for consumer products, home entertainment and will support the local Warner Bros. theatrical business. The ex-CEO at Lagardère Sports and Entertainment joined WBD in 2019, as the president of Eurosport.
“As we enter another important period during these transformative times for our broader business, I’m looking forward to working even more closely with Andrew to shape our path and best position our company for continued and longer-term success,” commented Gerhard Zeiler, international president at WBD.
This news arrives in the same week that WBD’s president & MD for EMEA, Priya Dogra, revealed she would be leaving the company.
