Apple TV+ Unveils Exclusive Doc on Lionel Messi's Inter Miami CF Journey
Apple TV+ is set to provide football enthusiasts an exclusive window into the life and career of soccer icon Lionel Messi with a new six-part documentary series. By: Syahmi Zulqarnain.
This untitled docuseries offers unprecedented behind-the-scenes access, chronicling Messi's arrival in the United States to play for Major League Soccer and Inter Miami CF, capturing his debut in Leagues Cup and beyond.
The forthcoming documentary series will complement the previously announced Apple Original documentary, which will comprehensively trace the journey of the seven-time Ballon d'Or awardee throughout his illustrious career. This coverage will encompass his five FIFA World Cup participations, culminating in his triumphant victory at FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Having spent over two decades with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, and achieving the pinnacle of success by clinching the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with the Argentina national football team, Messi's decision to join Major League Soccer and Inter Miami CF marks a significant shift in his career. Fans can catch his games through the MLS Season Pass, a subscription service jointly offered by Apple and Major League Soccer.
Commenting on his transition to the American league, Messi expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "I couldn’t be happier coming to Miami and joining such an amazing group of people and organization. I’m joining with the desire to compete, win and help the club continue to grow. I also think we’re going to really enjoy ourselves, have a good time and that very special things are going to happen."
The documentary is being produced by Smuggler Entertainment in collaboration with Major League Soccer. Executive producers of the project include Emmy Award winner Tim Pastore (Free Solo), Emmy and Tony Award winners Patrick Milling Smith and Brian Carmody, Emmy Award winner Matt Renner (Free Solo), as well as Scott Boggins (The Circus).
