Robin Roberts Anchors new Multi-Genre Unit at ABC News Studios
The new multi-genre production unit launched at ABC News Studios will produce originals for ABC Television Network, Hulu and Disney+. It will be led by Robin Roberts, the renowned television presenter and American Broadcaster. By Wee Yan Ling
The new production unit is actively commissioning and developing projects from across multiple genres and formats. The new entity will start off with a one-hour primetime news magazine programme featuring Director Kerry Washington on her new memoir.
Kerry Washington: Thicker than water - A conversation with Robin Roberts will premier on the 24th September, Sunday before streaming on Hulu the next day.
The introduction of the new entity helps to broaden Roberts’ already extensive production portfolio, which comprises her role as co-anchor on Good Morning America and her ownership of Rock’n Robin Productions.
The executive producer appointed is Jonathan Blakey and the head of ABC News Studios is Mike Kelley. Launched only last year, ABC News Studios had an initial slate of more than 100 hours of original content.
ABC News president Kim Godwin said, “This dedicated ABC News Studios production unit will make it possible for Robin to seamlessly produce more premium, original content about extraordinary people and places like only Robin can.”
