Hollywood Agent’s Son Arrested for ‘Gruesome’ Murder

The man suspected of murder after a torso was found in a dumpster has now been officially charged with three counts of murder associated with the deaths of his wife and in-laws, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.
Mei Li Haskell, 37, with her parents, Gaoshan Li, 72, and Yanxiang Wang, 64, were last witnessed on November 6th. Alongside Mei's husband, Samuel Haskell, they lived together with the three children of Mei and Samuel.
Authorities suggested that Samuel hired day laborers on November 7th to rid of four large trash bags. One of the laborers opened a bag that contained body parts, authorities stated.
The next day, the district attorney’s office announced, Samuel was seen allegedly throwing away another trash bag that was later found to contain a human torso in it. He was arrested the day after.
The Haskells' three children were discovered and are being taken care of by relatives, police mentioned. Samuel is being held without bond. Adding on to the existing murder charges, a special circumstance of multiple murders might be allegedly ensued. It is not stated clearly if he has obtained an attorney, with his trial set to take place on December 8th.
District Attorney George Gascón declared in a statement, “These shocking and gruesome crimes have sent shockwaves through our community. We stand with the victims’ loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time and will do everything in our power to ensure justice is served.
“Our Major Crimes Division will work tirelessly to bring about a prosecution that reflects the severity of this devastating crime.”
The offender in question, Haskell, is the son of producer and Hollywood agent Sam Haskell, who has notably represented stars such as Whoopi Goldberg and Dolly Parton.
