SPA's Pitch on Demand Returns with Apple TV+, Foxtel Group, and Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ

Screen Producers Australia (SPA) will welcome back representatives from Apple TV+, Foxtel Group, and Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ for this year’s Pitch On Demand initiative.

Australia - Screen Producers Australia (SPA) has announced the return of its Pitch on Demand initiative for the fourth consecutive year, featuring prominent participants such as Apple TV+, Foxtel Group, and Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ12. This program, designed to expedite the development of high-quality Australian content, offers producers direct access to key decision-makers from leading broadcasters and streaming platforms.

The 2024 edition will see the return of notable figures including Oliver Jones, Senior Commissioning Executive at Apple TV+, and Carolyn Carbone from its International Creative Development division. Representing Foxtel Group will be Lana Greenhalgh, Head of Scripted Originals, while Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ will be represented by Senior Scripted Commissioner Tina McLaren and Commissioner Shelley Quinn.

Pitch On Demand provides a streamlined approach for producers to present their ideas through 30-minute webinars hosted by each commissioner. These sessions will outline the types of projects each platform is seeking, allowing SPA members to submit pitches tailored to these briefs. Following the webinars, SPA will facilitate pitch meetings between shortlisted applicants and the commissioners.

Lana Greenhalgh expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting Foxtel Group’s commitment to discovering the next great Australian story. She noted that the previous year’s program received some of the most impressive pitches to date and is excited to see what this year will bring. Similarly, Oliver Jones from Apple TV+ praised the program for connecting him with talented Australian producers and creative teams, and he looks forward to exploring new projects that might suit Apple TV+.

SPA CEO Matthew Deaner emphasized the importance of such collaborations in the highly competitive global content market. He expressed gratitude for the continued support from these major platforms, which helps drive opportunities for Australian stories to reach both local and global audiences.

The webinars are scheduled as follows: Foxtel Group on September 17, Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ on September 18, and Apple TV+ on September 191. This initiative underscores SPA’s commitment to fostering the growth of the Australian screen industry by providing valuable opportunities for local producers.
