In current times, Indian films have garnered much traction and have made their way to the global market. Many Bollywood films have also been adapted to cater towards westernised audiences and preferences, which has led to the films’ rising success around the world. With Bollywood becoming more popular in the film industry, many actors are gaining traction and increasing their net worth. Many have landed themselves on the prestigious Forbes’ World’s Highest-paid actors list. Here are the top three highest paid actors in Bollywood this year.
Shah Rukh Khan – US$ 735 m
Known as ‘King Khan’ or ‘Badshah of Bollywood’, Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most accomplished Bollywood stars in history, as he is estimated to have over $735 million in net worth, showing a major presence and influence over the industry.
After a long break, he has returned from his hiatus, having featured in two movies Pathaan and Jawan, that released this year and have been thriving in the box office globally.
Particularly with Jawan, its latest release has achieved notable success in the box office, being the highest grossing Indian film of the year earning over $135 million worldwide. The film has garnered attention from both audiences and respective Bollywood celebrities. Fellow Bollywood actor and star Akshay Kumar even heaped praise on Shah Rukh Khan seeing the film’s success.
Salman Khan – US$350 m
A mainstay in India’s movie industry, Salman Khan has become a household name in Bollywood, with many knowing his reputation in the film scene. Not only a highly in-demand actor, he is also a popular TV show host and a highly admired producer in the industry.
With a net worth of approximately $350 million, he is one of the richest Bollywood celebrities. He initially rose to fame through acting, which he has done over a span of 30 years. He has acted in over 80 films, earning his status of being one of the highest paid in Bollywood, up to $8.6 million per each film. In 2018, he also achieved a place on the Forbes list for the highest paid celebrities worldwide, amassing over $37.7 million that year.
His films include popular names such as Sultan and the Tiger franchise, with the trilogy to be released by the end this year. He also co-starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Pathaan, a newly released film at the start of 2023.
Aamir Khan – US$200 m
Estimated to be worth around $200 million, many people recognise Aamir Khan as India’s most ambitious and accomplished actors. Not only did he star in his popular film Lagaan, he was also the producer for the illustrious project.
To viewers, they feel Khan has changed the perspective of Bollywood’s film industry while drawing international popularity, winning the Public’s Choice award at Switzerland’s Locarno Film Festival and being nominated for the Best Foreign Film category of the Academy Awards.
With all the global attention placed on the movie, his hit film Lagaan achieved massive numbers in the year 2001, with the grossing revenue expected to be worth around $19 million today. He has also acted in another popular film Dangal, which spent a few weeks on top of China’s box office.
