US - According to Kantar’s latest
Entertainment on Demand (EoD) data, Apple TV+ experienced remarkable growth in
the first quarter of this year. It emerged as the fastest-growing major
subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service. Meanwhile, other streaming
services also had notable developments
Netflix saw strong Q1 growth in Europe and Australia. Local
services like Movistar+ in Spain, Joyn Plus+ in Germany, and Kayo in Australia
also gained elevated levels of new paid subscribers.
However, Prime Video faced challenges after
introducing an ad-supported tier. Existing users resisted this change, leading
to a drop in subscribers after a strong Q4.
Among all streamers, the most enjoyed title in Q1’24
on Prime Video was Reacher, followed by Fool Me Once on Netflix and
Yellowstone. Netflix continued to excel in retention and subscriber advocacy,
while Prime Video’s ad-supported approach received mixed reactions.
Despite these shifts, the global video-on-demand
landscape is evolving, emphasizing the need for streaming services to adapt
swiftly to maintain and expand their viewer base.
Apple TV+ offers a diverse range of original
programming that caters to various tastes and interests. As of March 2022,
there were 113 original shows and movies available on the platform, with more
being added over time. It’s interesting to see how these platforms are
navigating the changing preferences of viewers.
