The creative force behind beloved children’s shows, Marty Kroftt, had passed away at the age of 86. Krofft had left an indelible mark on Sunday morning programming and is renowned for his vibrant and innovative productions. He had created iconic series with his brother, Sid, series such as H.R. Pufnstuf as well as Land of the Lost. It has been confirmed that Krofft had died of kidney failure on Saturday.

Crowned with the title of the King of Saturday Mornings, Krofft was a pioneer in children’s television together with his brother, Sid. The duo’s talented crafts spilled beyond Saturday mornings as they also helmed primetime variety shows such as Donny and Marie, Barbara Mandrell and Mandy Moore.

H.R. Pufnstuf is a groundbreaking live-action program that enticed audiences with their fantastical storyline. The series narrates the adventures of a young boy as he befriended a dragon named H.R. Pufnstuf in a magical land and faced off with nefarious Witchiepoo.

The producer’s talent went beyond the limit of the screen as he and Sid had opened an independent production outpost in San Fernando Valley during the peak of their careers. The creative space was where they created sets, props, costumes for their own production as well as external projects.
