Catherine O’Hara Joins Cast of The Last of Us Sequel

The Last of Us Season 2, slated to broadcast on HBO, has brought in actress Catherine O’Hara. By: Dylan Low

Details of the role that O’Hara will be playing still remain undisclosed. She joins returning series main characters Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the blockbuster series, along with new cast members Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Kaitlyn Dever as Abby.

 

O’Hara is one of the most accomplished comedic actresses in recent times, having had her breakout role on the popular sketch comedy series SCTV. She prominently starred in the comedy series Schitt’s Creek, portraying Moira Rose on six seasons of the show. 

 

Shealso claimed two Emmy nominations for the program, winning 2020’s award for best actress for comedies for the last season. O’Hara’s other film credits include Christopher Guest’s A Mighty Wind, Best in Show, and Waiting for Guffman. She additionally participated in other features like Beetlejuice, and first two instalments of the Home Alone franchise.

O’Hara is represented by the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

 

The Last of Us is a series related to the trending video game of the same name made by Neil Druckmann and developed by Naughty Dog. The show’s official description writes, “the story takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.”

 

The series is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Druckmann. Both have also directed several episodes. Carolyn Strauss and Evan Wells, president of Naughty Dog, joins as executive producers alongside PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, Jacqueline Lesko and Cecil O’Connor. The series is a co-production by both HBO and Sony Pictures Television. PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog serve as production companies.
