China - Shadows of the Void, a long-awaited sci-fi anime series by Winsing Animation, will soon premiere on 10 April exclusively on Bilibili. With strong Chinese cultural influences and unique animation, fans and first-time viewers alike can look forward to the anime with high expectations.
Chinese culture in the series is seen in elements like the characters’ attire, inspired by Chinese motifs, and combat sequences that follow traditional martial arts like Wing Chun. The landscapes of the “Sand Zone” are also inspired from the ancient Chinese city of Dunhuang. The anime series follows two female protagonists, Coral and Yujia, as they face the catastrophe “Voidflux” and try to keep their homeland safe. Chief Director of Winsing Animation, Lu Jinming elaborated on the anime’s storyline, “We aim to showcase the multifaceted strength of women through a distinctive lens.”
In terms of animation, Shadows of the Void uses both Maya and UE5 technologies to merge the nostalgic 2D animation with smooth 3D effects. This endeavour produces next-level visuals that can bring out the complexities of the storyline even more, and give viewers an enjoyable experience.
