Hong Kong - Hong Kong’s Eye Catcher Global (ECG) will return for its second edition from June 20-23 at Soho House in Hong Kong, featuring competitive and non-competitive film screenings.
This year, artistic director of Cannes’ Directors Fortnight, Julien Rejl, will attend the event as jury president of two new awards: the Asian new director grand award, as well as the Asian new director special jury award. These awards come with a cash prize of HK$100,000 for a fiction film project and HK$20,000 for either a fiction or non-fiction film project respectively.
Meanwhile, the International Pitching Forum, open to both short and feature films with Hong Kong elements, will return with roughly 10 in-development projects and six work-in–progress projects. According to the ECG website, the forum aims to “introduce film projects with great potential and Hong Kong elements, and to facilitate the exchange and collaboration with industry delegates worldwide and international film platforms.”
For the International Pitching Forum, four awards with a total prize sum of HK$180,000 will be presented, comprising two ECG awards for in-development projects and another two for work-in-progress projects.
ECG creative director Eric Tsang Hing Weng said in an interview: “Eye Catcher Global serves as an extended initiative for our local talents to further connect to their Asian peers and the global pioneers. It fosters exchange of bold thinking and new ways of collaboration.”
