Dua Lipa Among the Star-Studded Cast of Disney’s Upcoming Doc Series Camden

Dua Lipa and other music icons who broke through in or had their careers shaped by Camden will appear in a new Disney+ documentary about the location.

The streaming service has announced a series of new programmes for its platform, including one episode about Camden. This series will feature pop star Dua Lipa, musician Mark Ronson and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin who will appear on screen in the new music documentary Camden, directed by Asif Kapadia.

Camden will tell the stories of artists who were shaped by the eclectic London borough, with a slew of musicians set to star, including The Libertines’ Pete Doherty and American musician Questlove.

Other musicians confirmed to feature in the series include rapper Little Simz, Chic co-founder Nile Rodgers, Culture Club’s Boy George, singer Yungblud, pop group Black Eyed Peas, British DJ Jazzie B, grime and punk inspired duo Bob Vylan, Public Enemy’s Chuck D and music artist Sister Bliss.

Dua Lipa still lives nearby, having recently won permission for changes to her West Hampstead home after a near two-year battle. She was born and raised in London, but her family hail from the Balkans and the pop star previously claimed that it’s a “big part” of her identity. The brunette beauty – who lived in Kosovo during her teens – told WSJ Magazine, “It’s such a big part of who I am. Given my parents and how they came to the UK, [the refugee situation] has always been something that’s really close to my heart.”

Dua (28) also insisted that she won’t allow anyone to deny her “identity”. The ‘Levitating’ hitmaker – who has enjoyed huge success in recent years – said: “I read a lot of comments from people telling me that I don’t have a country, I don’t have an identity, Kosovo doesn’t exist.

“I lived in Kosovo, I know the lives that were lost [during the war]. So for somebody to deny me my identity and my experience, it’s hard for me to stand back and not speak up about it. So that’s something that I will always do.”

This evocative series will reveal the extraordinary untold stories of how the lives and careers of many of today’s most iconic music acts were shaped by Camden, alongside some of the careers that were broken by it.

With access to some of the biggest music stars in the world whose lives were changed forever by this tiny part of London, this series will finally give Camden the recognition it deserves on a global stage.
