Description

Jackie Chan takes on the role of Luo, a formerly successful stuntman who has fallen through tough times over the years. Now, his sole companion is a horse he nursed back to health named Red Hare. Chan resorts to low-paying extra roles and adorning comical outfits to lure tourists for photos to earn a living.

However, his lifestyle is in jeopardy as he is threatened with debt. His debt collectors attempt to seize his horse, Red Hare, as collateral. Fortunately, Luo is propelled to fame once more due to the leaked video of him tactfully humiliating his debt collectors.

Eventually, Luo is greeted by the lawyers and we see his house which is converted into a repurposed and open air training area where he conducted his teachings to his disciples in the art of stunts. The place is in shambles with exposed beams and ladders scattered everywhere.

The lawyers affirm the need to repossess Luo’s Red Hare which throws him into a spiral of emotions as the animal holds deep significance to him, with Luo regarding the horse as his own flesh and blood. Seemingly out of options, he reaches out to his estranged daughter, Bao, who is pursuing a degree in law and engaged to a recent law school graduate.

Bao was mixed with emotions however, her guard was melted away by the genuine plea of his father through his remorse as a parent. Deeply moved by his bond forged with the Red Hare, the pair bury the hatchet and Bao talks Luo into quitting the realm of stunt work.

Commemorating Jackie Chan’s career as a martial arts stuntman, he has remained a staunch advocate for authentic combat, action and physical students over the course of his illustrious journey in the industry. Having sustained numerous injuries in the pursuit of his craft, Ride On pays homage to the unsung heroes in the stunt community, those who work tirelessly behind the scenes and puts their lives on the line in order to deliver awe-inspiring action sequences year after year.
