Description
A tokusatsu film that consists of unique character designs and an exhilarating action set, Shin Kamen Rider is an epic, thrilling film that is unlike any other.
Directed by Hideaki Anno, his love for the manga can be vividly seen through the sequence of the famed film. He does a tremendous feat in maintaining a balance between gory bloody action scenes and remarkable absurdity seen in every Tokusatsu series/film.
Shin Kamen Rider outlines main character Takeshi Hongo, played by Sôsuke Ikematsu, as he is kidnapped by an unknown evil organization SHOCKER which builds an army of mutant cyborgs. He is then transformed into a grasshopper-hybrid cyborg, however was saved by Dr. Midorikawa. With his newfound powers, he uses it for good and looks to take down SHOCKER’s plans for evil.
The film showcases the intrinsic beauty of costume designs, seen in the film characters Kumo Augment-01, Koumori Augment-01, Hachi Augment-01, Sasori Augment-01, and Kamakiri Chameleon Augment-01, played by different characters in the film.
Each of these Augs showcase contrasting personalities that are clearly portrayed in the movie and keep the film continually entertaining. With amazing stunt choreography and immersive voice work, audiences watching will surely be kept glued to the screen to find out more about these characters and their interactions.
The Shin Kamen Rider film has performed in the box-office, achieving the highest highest-earning film in the Kamen Rider franchise's history. It will be screening on Fantasia International Film Festival’s 2023 programming which spotlights Asian cinema this year.
