Description

Directed by filmmaker Peter Nicks, this famed documentary showcases the rise to glory for global NBA superstar Stephen Curry from a small college dropout to become the basketball icon he is today.

Underrated beats all claims of a cliché documentary, as many were expecting chip-on-the-shoulder type of mentality to ascend into greatness with features of his teammates of the Warriors dynasty and his wife Ayesha Curry. Instead, the film comes off unexpected to many with his first 12 glory-filled seasons summarised in only a three-minute montage.

The origin feature film showcases a comprehensive and conventional outlook to his humble beginnings, when he was merely a barely recruited star player in his time at Davidson. His years spent in Davidson college was a major component in the documentary, with interviews from teammates and coaches led by head coach Bob McKillop.

What makes this documentary standout to others is its authenticity, bringing to light the less-familiar sides to Curry’s life and background. Director Peter Nick should be credited for arranging an unseen collection of home-movie content from his youth basketball and high school, rather than playing his usual highlights that can be easily found online.

This film will definitely appeal to the sports audiences, with the fact that Stephen Curry is one of the most well-known athletes in the world. Viewers should be captivated to watch this documentary, to know more about his inspiring grind and journey to become the personality he is today.
