Description
In Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, a human team investigates an accident that occurred in Hollow Earth, where Kong resides, before discovering a sinister threat in the form of the Skar King, leading to a team-up between Kong and Godzilla.
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, like many of its predecessors in the Monsterverse cinematic universe, does not have an amazing human storyline. But that’s not what audiences are here for. Where the movie shines is in its action sequences involving Kong and/or Godzilla. Everything going on with the human storyline, including its at times laughable dialogue, is merely just to keep the movie going.
Though this is unfortunate as we’ve seen with Godzilla Minus One (2023) that human-centred monster movies can work with great success, anyone who has watched past Monsterverse movies and is revisiting the franchise with Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire will probably go in expecting spectacular fight scenes but serviceable human scenes, and that is exactly what they will be getting with this movie.
Overall, if you’re familiar with the franchise, Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire delivers on what you would expect it to deliver on, and if you’re new to the franchise, get ready for a fun but not really emotionally charged film.
