Chris Brearton steps down from his position as corporate strategy executive at MGM+. By Ching Wai.
US - Chris Brearton, vice president of corporate strategy at MGM+ and MGM Alternative TV, has resigned. Amazon MGM Studios will reshuffle its senior executive ranks.
Following Brearton’s departure from the company, Prime Video International chief, Kelly Day, will take on various new reports, including MGM+ executives Michael Wright and Josh Mclvor, and MGM Television’s Lindsey Sloane. Additionally, Barry Poznik’s MGM Unscripted unit will be under Brad Beale, the head of global content licensing, and MGM’s corporate strategy chief, Ted Lim, will report to Amazon Studios topper, Jennifer Salke.
The ex-MGM executive had been in the role since November 2022 after Amazon acquired MGM. Brearton had previously been chief operating officer (COO) in 2018 at MGM, and worked for the company as a lawyer, assisting with Amazon’s acquisition. Brearton had reported to Prime Video’s Senior Vice President (SVP), Mike Hopkins.
“Over the past two years, I have been able to witness Amazon become the new and prosperous home to much of the MGM family. Invigorated by our dynamic and evolving industry, it is time for me to look forward to my next challenge and to build once again,” Brearton said.
Hopkins, said, “Chris has been an invaluable leader throughout the MGM acquisition process and his tireless work to integrate MGM into our Prime Video/Amazon MGM Studios family has been a vital piece of our work in building a unified business and – in doing so – create even more value for our creative partners, advertisers and – most important – our customers. I’m so grateful to Chris for his partnership, and there’s no doubt we all will miss him on both a personal and professional level.”
