French-based technology company Vantiva reaches 22 million Android TV STB sales, reaching its latest strategic milestone. By Ching Wai.

France - Global technology leader Vantiva announced its successful selling of 22 million Android TV set-top boxes (STBs) powered by Android TV on 16 April. This strengthens Vantiva’s 25% share of the Android TV market, as of the end of 2023 according to the Omdia STB 3Q23 report. The company reportedly developed Android TV when it was first available, implemented over 30 upgrades, and offered the most Netflix, Prime and Disney+ certifications in the industry.

Previously known as Technicolor, Vantiva developed its first STB powered by Android TV in 2015 with Svlete. The company then developed one with Jade in 2020, with an added Google Assistant for voice control feature. The technology company then introduced Soundscape in 2022, combining a STB and soundbar into a single device.

The 22 million STBs sold milestone for Vantiva aligns with its commitment to provide open and innovative technologies for NSPs and Pay TV operators globally. To bring smooth connectivity and high-end entertainment experiences to patrons, Vantiva continues to create the best CPE and partners with innovative companies in the connected home ecosystem.

“Vantiva has been a significant partner in bringing the Android TV experience to customers around the world. … [W]e’re looking forward to continuing to bring innovation and entertainment to viewers for years to come,” said Shalini GovilPai, vice president of TV, Google.

Leopold Diouf, senior vice president of the product division at Vantiva, said, “Android TV represents a profound shift for consumers and NSPs by delivering a unified, user-friendly platform with advanced features… Vantiva has earned the reputation of delivering innovative entertainment experiences for consumers and operators, as shown by our NaviGate IQTM app that provides insight into consumer viewing habits through data analytics and machine learning. We thank Android TV and our valued customers and are grateful for their trust in developing, integrating and supporting cutting-edge set-top boxes around the world.”
