Restructuring at VICE

VICE Media Group forms VICE Studios Group, with newly elevated co-presidents Jamie Hall and Danny Gabai leading in London and Los Angeles respectively. By Ching Wai.

US - Amidst reorganisation, VICE Media Group has formed VICE Studios Group, comprising Pulse Films, UnTypical, VICE Studios LatAm, VICE Studios Canada, a news documentary unit and its distribution catalogue. The new production group will focus on developing, financing and producing multi-genre, “cutting-edge” content, with newly appointed Co-Presidents Jamie Hall and Danny Gabai leading it in London and Los Angeles respectively.

Details of the production group are as follows: Pulse Films will continue its production of long and short form content, including commercials, music videos, scripted film and television series, and music documentaries. VICE Studios has been renamed UnTypical. VICE Studios Canada focuses on factual format series servicing broadcasters like VICE TV and Bell Media’s Crave. VICE Studios LatAm highlights Latin American and LatinX stories, producing documentaries and other non-scripted content. The news documentary team will produce premium current affair documentaries and nonfiction series.

Hall has worked with Pulse Films since 2018 and was most recently COO of scripted content. Gabai had been chief content officer at VICE Studios, where he contributed significantly to building the production company from the ground up, overseeing VICE’s feature film, scripted and documentary productions.
