Kevin Spacey Fires Back at New Doc About Alleged Abuse

Kevin Spacey’s career has been significantly impacted by the allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct against him. Following the emergence of these allegations, Spacey faced a dramatic fall from grace in the entertainment industry. By K Dass.

US - Kevin Spacey is firing back at Britain's Channel 4 over an upcoming docuseries about him. The actor, 64, claimed in a lengthy tweet shared Thursday that the team behind Spacey Unmasked — billed as a look at Spacey's fall from grace amid allegations of sexual abuse and grooming from multiple men — has "refused" him the opportunity to respond to the allegations in a timeframe he deemed fit. He wrote, "Over the last week, I have repeatedly requested that @Channel4 afford me more than 7 days to respond to allegations made against me dating back 48 years and provide me with sufficient details to investigate these matters," claiming the channel "refused on the basis that they feel that asking for a response in 7 days to new, anonymised and non-specific allegations is a 'fair opportunity' for me to refute any allegations made against me."

Spacey added, "I will not sit back and be attacked by a dying network's one-sided 'documentary' about me in their desperate attempt for ratings. There's a proper channel to handle allegations against me and it’s not Channel 4. Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated. Tune in this weekend to see my response on X.com/kevinspacey (https://www.x.com/kevinspacey)."

Spacey Unmasked, directed and produced by Katherine Haywood, will offer a "forensic look" at the actor's career with never-before-seen archives and interviews with multiple men unconnected to Spacey's 2023 U.K. trial as they speak about their experiences with the actor for the first time. The docuseries is set to air on May 6 and 7 in the U.K., and it was recently acquired by Max in the U.S., although a premiere date Stateside has yet to be announced. Spacey was acquitted of all sexual misconduct and assault charges against him in London in 2023, pertaining to alleged offenses against four men between 2001 and 2013. The Oscar-winning actor has denied all the allegations against him.
