Next Generation Media Fund and are talking to buyers on the first project on the slate, the crime biopic Gambino.
Cannes - Veteran US independent producer Cassian Elwes and
Chinese tech entrepreneur and NextG founder Edward Zeng have teamed up to
launch a $100 million film fund. Their Next Generation Media Fund aims to
invest in five to eight features over the next three years.
The duo is currently
in Cannes, discussing potential partnerships and engaging with buyers for their
first project on the slate: the crime biopic Gambino. Elwes, known for
producing films like The Butler, Precious, and Mudbound, will
lead the production.
The screenplay for Gambino
was written by Nick Vallelonga, the Oscar-winning co-writer and producer of
Green Book, with George Gallo set to direct. The fund’s mission is to champion
IP-driven theatrical projects involving top-tier global writers, directors, and
actors. They also plan to leverage cutting-edge technologies.
