Berlinale Appoints New Co-Directors of Film Programming

New Berlin Festival director Tricia Tuttle continues to build up her team for the 2025 Berlinale, naming Michael Stütz and Jacqueline Lyanga the co-directors of film programming for the A-list German event.

German - Berlinale Director Tricia Tuttle has made significant additions to her executive team, appointing Jacqueline Lyanga and Michael Stütz as Co-Directors of Film Programming for the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival.

“Michael and Jacqueline bring a strong and complementary combination of skills and networks, and they are both hugely smart, collaborative creative leaders as well as passionate, generous cinephiles. I can’t wait to work alongside them to shape dynamic Berlinale film programmes,” comments Berlinale Director, Tricia Tuttle.

These internationally respected programmers will share responsibilities in curating the festival’s film selection, including Competition and Berlinale Special. Stütz, who already heads the Panorama section, will take on this expanded role alongside Lyanga. Their collaboration promises dynamic film programs for the festival’s 75th edition next February.

Tuttle expressed excitement about working with both Lyanga and Stütz, emphasizing their complementary skills and passion for cinema. The Berlinale’s new governance structure aims to enhance cooperation, efficiency, and strategic planning, with experienced colleague Florian Weghorn becoming the festival’s first Chief of Staff.
