Ahuja assumes role on January 2, 2025. Vinciquerra to remain in advisory role as non-executive chairman until end of December 2025.
In a significant shake-up at Sony Pictures
Entertainment, Chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra is stepping down from his
role. Ravi Ahuja, who previously served as President and COO of the company,
will take over as President and CEO beginning in 2025. Ahuja’s elevation to
these top positions was part of a deliberate strategy to groom him as
Vinciquerra’s successor and provide him with comprehensive experience across
the organization.
Vinciquerra, a seasoned Hollywood executive, joined
Sony Pictures in 2017, navigating challenges such as the aftermath of the Sony
hack, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the industry’s shift toward streaming video.
Under his leadership, Sony Pictures opted not to launch its own broad-based
streaming service, instead focusing on selling its films and TV series to
established streaming and TV giants. Vinciquerra remains with the company as
non-executive chairman through 2025, emphasizing the enduring demand for content
and entertainment in people’s lives.
As Ravi Ahuja steps into the CEO role, all eyes will
be on Sony Pictures’ continued evolution in the dynamic entertainment landscape.
