Winners of 18th Seoul International Drama Awards

The Seoul Drama Awards Organising Committee (SDAOC) has unveiled winners in three categories: International Competition, International Invitation, and Korean Drama Competition. By: Theng Min Yee

The winners of the prestigious 18th Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA) were unveiled on September 6th by the Seoul Drama Awards Organising Committee (SDAOC). These awards recognise outstanding contributions to drama from around the world, celebrating exceptional programming and performances across diverse platforms. This year, the SDA saw a record-breaking 344 entries submitted from 44 countries or regions, demonstrating a remarkable global participation.

The International Competition category, judged by an expert panel, bestowed recognition upon 12 exceptional winners. Accolades in the International Competition category included Mayflies from the U.K which won Best TV Movie, Reborn Rich from Korea which won Best Miniseries, Meet Yourself from China which won Bets TV Series, The Fragile Colossus from France which won Best Director, and many more.  

The International Invitation Category featured seven winners, which consisted of Filipino actress Kathryn Bernardo, Thai actor Gun Atthaphan Phunsawat, and many others.

The category of Korean Drama Competition saw The Glory and Extraordinary Attorney Woo winning Outstanding Korean Drama, actor Sung Min Lee winning Outstanding Korean Actor for his immersive performance in Reborn Rich, and singer Ho Joong Kim winning Outstanding Korean Drama O.S.T.

The SDA 2023 awards ceremony will take place on September 21st at 6 p.m. at KBS Hall. The event will be broadcast live on KBS 2TV and streamed on the official SDA YouTube channel. The grand prize in the International Competition and the Golden Bird Prize in International Invitation will be revealed during the awards ceremony.

Since its inception in 2006, the Seoul International Drama Awards has grown into a global drama festival, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Seoul Metropolitan Government, KBS, MBC, SBS, EBS, and CBS.
