Ex-Netflix Executive Kai Finke Appointed Chief Content Officer at SkyShowtime

In a strategic move, Kai Finke, who recently bid farewell to Netflix, assumes the role of Chief Content Officer at the joint venture between Comcast and Paramount's SVoD platform, SkyShowtime. Finke steps into this position following the departure of Farrar, who, after a transitioning period in the coming months, chose to step down from the Head of Programming role.

In his new capacity, Finke will spearhead the content operations of the emerging streaming platform, particularly as it embarks on venturing into original programming. This includes overseeing programming strategy encompassing third-party acquisitions, original content procurement, and commissioning initiatives.

Based in Amsterdam, Finke will report directly to Monty Sarhan, the Chief Executive Officer of SkyShowtime. This appointment aligns with the platform's strategic efforts to solidify its presence in the European market. The service recently completed its expansion to 22 European countries in February, including Spain, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Albania, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia, among others.

Prior to joining SkyShowtime, Finke held the position of EMEA-based Director of Content at Netflix, overseeing multiple European markets. With over two decades of experience in production, international distribution, and acquisitions, Finke brings a wealth of expertise to his new role.

This year, SkyShowtime achieved the successful launch of 10 original series, including acclaimed titles such as Bosé, Codename: Annika, Fleeting Lies, Poker Face, The Invisible Ladies, The Winner, and Warszawianka. Finke's mission will be to build upon this success through the initiation of fresh projects and strategic acquisitions.

Sarhan expressed confidence in Finke's appointment, stating, "Kai is a proven programming executive who brings together strong creative sensibilities with business acumen. As we continue to expand into original programming, his wide range of experience – along with his knowledge of our markets – make him the ideal choice to lead our programming team in this next chapter of our growth."

Finke also shared his enthusiasm, highlighting SkyShowtime's commitment to local programming and its exclusive offerings from Paramount and NBCUniversal, affirming its significant appeal to both audiences and the creative industries across Europe.
