SpongeBob SquarePants is back for Season 15

Nickelodeon unveiled that it has renewed its flagship animated series SpongeBob SquarePants for the 15th season consisting of 26 episodes. By: Wee Yan Ling

Renowned cartoon channel has announced the continuation of the animated series, SpongeBob SquarePants with a new season and will debut on Nickelodeon.

Fresh episodes consistently premier on Nickelodeon, showcasing the characters as they find themselves in novel situations. These include SpongBob believing he’s developed an allergy to Krabby Patties, Plankton receiving self-defence lessons from Sandy and Mr. Krabs trying out the gym.

The announcement arrives shortly before the series' 25th anniversary, which is set to take place next year.

Since its debut on 17 July 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has held the title of the most-viewed animated series for 21 straight years. It has given rise to a world filled with cherished characters, iconic catchphrases, internet memes, theatrical movies, merchandise, a Tony award-winning Broadway musical and an international fanbase.

The new season consisting of 26 episodes will bring the show to a total of 345 total episodes since its launch in 1999. The previous episodes of the series are available on Paramount+.
