Celebrity Chef Michael Chiarello Passed on at 61

The former Food Network star and host of ‘Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello’, has died at the age of 61. By: Dylan Low

Chiarello died at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, California, where he had undergone treatment for an acute allergic reaction which caused an anaphylactic shock. This was reported in a statement by his company, Gruppo Chiarello. 

“We deeply mourn the loss of our beloved patriarch Michael. His culinary brilliance, boundless creativity, and unwavering commitment to family were at the core of his being. He brought people together through the joy of shared meals, fostering lasting memories around the table,” His family issued in a statement.

They continued, “As we navigate this profound loss, we hold dear the moments we cherished with him, both in his kitchens and in our hearts. His legacy will forever live on in the love he poured into every dish and the passion he instilled in all of us to savor life’s flavours.”

For around a decade, Chiarello hosted various shows on PBS, Food Network, Fine Living and Cooking Channel, making Guest Chef appearances on shows like The View and Today.

His own cooking show series Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello went on for ten seasons and was nominated for multiple Emmys, which he won the trophy in 2005 for Outstanding Service Show Host in 2005.

He has also achieved other prestigious accomplishments, being named Chef of the Year from Food & Wine magazine in 1985, following with the CIA's Chef of The Year prize in 1995.
