THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO showcased the company’s principal investment to ensure international consolidation, fostering creative talent, growth and expansion in the past years to place the STUDIO as a top trending independent producers and distributors of content worldwide. By: Dylan Low

CEO of THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO, Laura Fernandez Espeso, stated their key priorities in the industry to continue development during the Media Mastermind Keynote at MIPCOM, a prominent event in the audiovisual landscape.

“We want to maintain and grow our positioning to continue being a relevant player in the international market,” said Laura Fernandez Espeso.

He continued, “One of our objectives is to expand in the Anglo market for which we have very specific plans to increase our speed of implementation in the US. We are not going to reduce our production in Spanish, which will continue as strong as it has been until now,

“Another of our most outstanding assets is neutrality: not having a window is a strength because it makes us the ideal ally for our clients in any possible business model, whether they are co-productions, acquisitions, licenses, alliances with third parties, etc.”

Fernandez Espeso also noted integrating new creative talent, in exclusive and non-exclusive agreements, and indirect talent from acquiring companies namely Cimarrón, known as a Latin American production company as the most relevant priorities.

As for their strategic partnerships, Fernandez elaborated on the alliance of THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO and Turkish company Medyapim, as they develop a new edition of Feriha’s Secret. They also had a content distribution agreement with Belgian company Be-Entertainment, where they adapted new formats El Musical de tu vida and Finder$ Keeper$ for the Spanish viewers.

Production wise, STUDIO will be committed to non-fiction content, producing 75 shows every year, which include documentaries, game shows, news reports and live comedy programs, with a reputation in free-to-air television and for streaming platforms, with prominent international coverage.

Espeso also covered the STUDIO’s main global franchise, which is action thriller The Head, with the filming for the trilogy to take place in late November. Director of International Content Development Ran Tellem will be recurring as showrunner, while Jorge Dorado returns as Director and John Lynch playing biologist Arthur Wilde. Casting includes Katharine O'Donnelly and Olivia Morris. The series will unite actors worldwide from different nationalities, a highlight of the last two seasons.
