A fourth Creed film is currently in the works with Michael B.Jordan is set to be directing the upcoming instalment, according to franchise Producer Irwin Winkler. By: Dylan Low
Jordan made his debut as director in Creed 3 where he also starred as heavyweight champ Adonis Creed from the Rocky spinoff film series. The third instalment, which premiered in theatres in March this year, overachieved at the box office with its $58 million debut weekend, a record-breaking amount in the boxing franchise.
Jordan was first casted as Adonis in 2015’s Creed, continuing his role as main character in the 2018 sequel and 2023 trilogy. Sylvester Stallone reprised his role as Rocky Balboa in the first two Creed films as he became a mentor to Adonis, the son of his former opponent Apollo Creed. Creed 3 is the first film in the long-running franchise without featuring Stallone.
In March, it was reported Jordan and Amazon were in discussions for a film and TV universe which expands the Creed boxing world.
While details remain unclear about the projects being discussed, sources state conversations remain ongoing to explore the opportunities for capitalizing on the MGM film franchise’s success on Prime Video, after Amazon’s acquisition of MGM.
“We’re planning to do Creed 4 right now — it’s in the works — and we think we have a really good story, a really good plot,” Winkler stated, further elaborating that plans were postponed “because of strike, like everybody else” but “probably a year from now we’re going for pre-production.”
