Peter Spellos: Transformers Voice Actor Passes Away at 69
Fans mourn the loss of the iconic Sky-Byte as Peter Spellos succumbs to pancreatic cancer after a courageous battle. By: Wee Yan Ling
Renowned actor Peter Spellos, acclaimed for his portrayal of Sky-Byte in the animated TV series, Transformers: Robots in Disguise had sadly passed on at the age of 69. The beloved voice behind the Transformers’ iconic character left an indelible mark on the world of animation and entertainment.
At the time of his death, Spellos was surrounded by his family and friends as well as the overflowing love of his fans internationally. Spellos had departed after a tough fight with pancreatic cancer, according to Jenifer Smith, one of Spello’s acting students.
According to Smith, the battle with stage 3 pancreatic cancer was a formidable one yet Spellos had faced it with the strength of a superhero. Producer and director Fred Olen Ray corroborated the news on his Facebook page and shared that he took his last breath at 2:30am. on Sunday.
Earlier this 2023, a GoFundMe initiative had been set up by fellow acting student Abby White. The fundraiser had documented Spellos' fight against cancer and shared details of Spellos as a resident of Indianapolis who faced the challenge with tenacity. The campaign had raised more than $22,000 to aid his healthcare.
Spellos had left an indelible mark in the world with the legacy as Sky-Bytein 39 episodes of the Transformers series. His talents had extended to multiple animated series which includes renowned series such as Naruto, Bleach, Digimon: Digital Monsters, Blue Dragon and Cowboy Bepop.
