Jamie Foxx Accused of Alleged Sexual Offense in New York Bar

The American actor was officially sued for a case of sexual assault towards a customer at a New York rooftop bar, which took place back in 2015. By: Dylan Low

The woman in the lawsuit claimed that Foxx led her to a private corner at a rooftop lounge in Catch NYC. He then allegedly touched her breasts and molested her under her pants without her consent.

Referring to the lawsuit, the accuser and her friend were seated at a table next to Foxx and bar owner Mark Birnbaum. At around 1a.m., the woman’s friend stood up to request a photo with Fox.

Fox agreed and they took several pictures. He then started commending the plaintiff, stated in the lawsuit saying things such as “Wow, you have that super model body and you smell so good.” He also apparently told her that she looked like actress Gabrielle Union.

More lawsuit details revealed that a security guard paid witness to the groping incident, however, he did not interfere in the situation. The woman’s friend stepped in to find her, as Foxx stopped making sexual contact with her and walked away.

The plaintiff hence is looking for compensation for pain, suffering, emotional distress, anxiety and humiliation. The lawsuit also claims that she was sore following the assault and needed medical treatment as a result.

Birnbaum and his restaurant Catch NYC were labelled as defendants, as they allegedly enabled the sexual offense to take place and failed to appropriately manage their employees. Foxx’s representatives have yet to respond to a request for comment.
