Creative Stew Displays TV and Film Slate at ATF

Creative Stew announces a wide range in TV and film slate at Singapore’s Asia TV Forum and Market (ATF). By: Dylan Low

Creative Stew, a Malaysian content production company which has run for ten years with operations in Singapore and India, is noted for That Cover Girl, the first Malaysian original series on Prime Video, a blockbuster show on the platform. The series details Sofi as a strong, ambitious, female fashion entrepreneur who manages both her business and personal life on her own terms.

Abid Hussain, founder and CEO of Creative Stew alongside his team are now expanding on the outfit’s slate, comprising two feature films and various series.

The first feature film is Memori, which references true events about a family dealing with the reality of a family member experiencing memory loss. It is written by Yasmin Yaccob, who was also the writer of That Cover Girl. The next film is romantic comedy Heartbreak FM, a modern perspective on relationships in urban Kuala Lumpur which detail how relationships currently oppose the cultural boundaries between love and traditions. It is written by Bernice Low, who had co-written 2023 trending film Polis Evo 3.

As for their series, Creative Stew is developing the sequel to That Cover Girl and looks to conclude production by the fourth quarter of 2024. They are also working on the production of The Dervish, an eight-part programme showcasing the dark twisted story of a filmmaker who lost everything because of love and art. Also in progress, ten-part series Maid of Honor is a social commentary on multi-racial weddings in Malaysia, written by Malaysian entertainer Shamaine Othman. It is joined with Missing of the Mist, an eight-part, tragic murder mystery where family secrets are discovered, involving a close family’s killer to look for.

Hussain announced, “Malaysian viewers are now ready for Malaysian stories which can compete with international standards of storytelling and production. The response we got from our Amazon Prime Video series That Cover Girl is that audiences in Malaysia-Singapore are now way more evolved and they expect nothing less but the best from their local content producers to tell their local stories to the world.”
