Japan Production House THE SEVEN Unveils Revolutionary Sound Stage

THE SEVEN, Inc. looks to create high-quality content worldwide, as they announce a committed sound stage M6 Studio inside the TBS Midoriyama Studio on 1st December. The studio is designed to manage content production targeted for streaming services showing high-quality content. By: Dylan Low

In the estimated 80,000 square meters of Midoriyama Studios, part of TBS holdings, THE SEVEN has finished building the M6 Studio, coupled with current television production studios. The new studio, which had an overall manufacturing cost of 20 billion-yen, is now available to use.

M6 Studios showcases one of Japan’s biggest studio spaces at around 1,000 square meters and 10 meters in height, granting indoor shooting for large-scale sets. It is also inclusive of a Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) room, offering instantaneous approval of recorded video data. They have constructed a high-speed communication framework, allowing for quick transmission of large-scale data. With this, it offers an excellent set-up for filming content necessary for worldwide streaming services that require exclusive video quality and post-production processes.

There is also an extended open area beside the studio, which entails up to 60,000 square meters that can be used for multiple scenarios. This space can cover construction of large-scale events, such as those employed in SASUKE/Ninja Warrior, allowing for nighttime filming in collaboration with M6 Studio. This versatility is a bonus to the appeal of facilities.

As Japan undergoes a shortage of studios, THE SEVEN has obtained creative flexibility and production reliability with this technologically advanced studio. They have previously acquired several offers for partnerships and joint productions from overseas, and are preparing to accommodate the surging number of upcoming projects.

At the M6 Studio, THE SEVEN will begin shooting for the trending blockbuster Netflix series Alice in Borderland 3, currently under production.
