Wonka Crossing $100 Million Mark

Warner Bros. celebrates the success of the whimsical tale, with its global earnings soaring beyond $270 million. By: Wee Yan Ling

Family-friendly Wonka has clinched the top spot at the box office by accruing an additional $8 million on Wednesday. This has raised the film’s domestic earnings beyond the $100 million milestone with a total of $102.5 million. The film is also thriving globally with a haul with more than $270 million which marks a significant victory for both Warner Bros. and Timothée Chalamet.

Unexpectedly, Migration, Illumination and Universal’s animated adventure about a mallard family have clinched the second spot with $6.3 million. Meanwhile Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is struggling to stay afloat as it adds $5.9 million to its domestic box office. The film was part of a rebooted strategy led by James Gunn and Peter Safran which concluded as an unsuccessful attempt to emulate Marvel’s success.

The musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel, The Color Purple had garnered an impeccable $3.8 million in merely three days. The illustrious cast featuring Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, and Fantasia Barrino, contributes to the film's critical acclaim.

Romantic comedy, Anyone but You have enthralled the audience as it amasses $2.6 million and is bringing in domestically to $13.3 million. With a modest budget of $25 million, the film proves to be a cost-effective success in the competitive box office landscape.
