Max streaming service has cancelled the series Julia after the two-season run. The show premiered in March 2022 and the second season was launched last November which consisted of eight episodes each. Despite the cancellation, Julia had amassed praise for its creative team and dynamic cast which is led by Sarah Lancashire as the iconic Julia Child.
The spokesperson for Max has displayed gratitude for the collaboration with the show’s creators, Chris Keyser and Danial Goldfarb and had acknowledged their masterful work of the creative team. “Thanks to their beautiful work over two seasons of this heartful, sensual, and inspiring show, we can forever celebrate the incredible legacy of Julia Child.”
The series portrayed the life of Julia Child, the pioneering chef and author who introduced French cuisine to American audiences through her cookbooks and television show, The French Chef. The show has struggled to garner a widespread audience despite its critical acclaim. Sarah Lancashire's portrayal of Julia Child, alongside a stellar cast including David Hyde Pierce, Bebe Neuwirth, and others, received acclaim from critics.
Both the seasons of the series have maintained an impressive 96% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series told the struggles faced by Julia Child as her cooking show was propelled to fame as she navigated her rising celebrity status addressing societal issues still prevalent in today’s world.
