Stephanie Hsu Takes Centre Stage in Peacock's New Comedy, Laid

The series promises to deliver a blend of romance and humour as it delves into the unconventional journey of confronting past lovers. By: Wee Yan Ling

The NBCUniversal-backed streaming platform, Peacock, has given the greenlight for the straight-to-series order for the comedic venture starring Staphanie Hsu known for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once. The series is produced by Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford Mckenna.

Laid tells the story of a woman, played by Stephanie Hsu, who discovers that her former lovers are dying in unusual ways. In order to move on, she has to go on a journey through her “sex timeline” to confront her past. Peacock has described the series as a “f–cked up rom-com,” the series offers a blunt response to the protagonist's quest for love and has asserted the issues that lie within her. 

Based on the Australian series of the same name created by Marieke Hardy and Krsity Fisher, the executive producers include John Davis, John Fox, Jennifer Carreras. Marieke Hardy, Kristy Fisher and Liz Watts as well as All3Media International will serve as the executive producers too. Stephanie Hsu will be credited as an executive producer on top as the lead. 

Nahnatchka Khan is renowned for her work on NBC’s Young Rock and ABC’s Fresh Off The Boat.
