Green has been unsheathed from the 2025’s sequel as director, due to appalling low-ratings of the horror gig. Universal and Blumhouse are in scout of a new helm of the director’s seat. By: Cassia Ling
Antoine Fuqua’s Michael Jackson biopic Michael will in lieu seize The Exorcist: Deceiver’s spot for its release date under Universal’s release calendar, slated for April 18, 2025. During the interlude, Green is spearheading Nutcrackers, featuring Ben Stiller and Season 4’s The Righteous Gemstones.
The first instalment of the horror franchise anticipated box office did not come to fruition, and had received ghastly verdicts, with Variety chief film critic Owen Gleiberman stating, “The clichés of demonic possession pile up with dutiful nostalgia, but they’ve lost their shock value.”
Believer has raked $65 million at the domestic box office, and $70 million for its offshore revenue. Green has penned the screenplay with Peter Sattler and relays “share by” credit with Scott Teems and Righteous Gemstones mastermind Danny McBride, who narrated and co-produced Green’s Halloween trilogy.
Before Believer’s commencement, two sequels were mooted and illuminated to be in development with Green, McBride, Sattler and Teems in the ensemble. Gordon’s dispensation did not come off shocking to many, as it was previously reported that the franchise would have some alterations made due to its abysmal reception.
Before Green’s project for The Exorcist reboot, the filmmaker has also illustrated and directed the final three Halloween films, casting supernova Jamie Lee Curtis which has grossed a resounding $500 million at the global box office.
