2000 TV and GoQuest Media have forged a collaboration to co-produce the Turkish
drama series, Kuma, this groundbreaking move is forged as
two-non-Turkish entities venture into the realm of Turkish premium daily series
production.
Stellar
Yapim, the production company helmed by Inci Gulen Oarr, the showrunner of the
widely acclaimed Elif, will take charge of the series that explores the
intricate dynamics of a young woman from eastern Turkey compelled to become a
‘kuma’ or second wife. The archaic form of marriage is still very prevalent in isolated
communities and lacks legal recognition.
The
collaboration leverages from the prowess of each partner. VIP 2000 TV’s is
proficient in Hispanic market distribution whereas Stellar Yapim has a stellar
record of churning out high-quality Turkish content with a global fan base and
paired with GoQuest Media’s diverse experience in worldwide content
distribution.
The
series promises to deliver a unique viewing experience as it encompasses
real-world locations and supreme production values which is reserved for prime
time, hence, offering flexibility in scheduling any time slot.
“We
are extremely pleased to be working with Inci Gulen Oarr on this project,” said
VIP 2000 TV CEO Roxana Rotundo. “We have been waiting to get involved in
our own Turkish project, but we needed it to be unique and different from the
rest; in a market where there is so much competition, we needed an IP that
would have a fascinating story, and we found Kuma.”
The
pre-production for the series has already begun with shooting scheduled to
begin in the Spring of Turkey. The event will be introduced to the global
market at NATPE Global and Content Americas with Rosalind Rotundo’s team from
VIP 2000 TV leading the presentation.
