Nielsen Charts Confirm Percy Jackson's Stellar Start on Disney+

The Nielsen streaming ratings reveal its remarkable performance, outshining recent Disney+ Marvel premieres and securing a prominent position in the competitive streaming landscape. By: Wee Yan Ling

The captivating world of Percy Jackson and the Olympians have taken over the realm of streaming as the adaptation by Disney+ of Rick Riordan’s best-selling books have made a victorious debut in the week leading up to Christmas. With reference to Nielsen’s streaming ratings, the first two episodes have garnered a resounding 572 million minutes of watch time in the United States alone.

The inaugural episodes had a combined runtime of 80 minutes, which translated to 7.15 million complete views. The impeccable milestone has solidified Percy Jackson’s position as a streaming phenomenon as it has surpassed the total viewing time of Disney+’s recent Marvel premiers, Secret Invasion and season two of Loki.

It has been reported that the first episode has amassed 13.3 million views internationally within the first six days which is equivalent to more than 505 million minutes.

Netflix’s Young Sheldon has recovered the top spot in overall viewing for the week of 18-24 and Percy Jackson has secured a praiseworthy fourth place among the original series. Prime Video’s Reacher and Netflix’s The Crown continue to reign in the streaming realm as each of their episodes surpass the billion-minute mark.
