Netflix announces the global streaming debut of Britney Spears' iconic 2002 film, Crossroads. By: Wee Yan Ling
Netflix has broken the news of the singer’s cinematic debut; Crossroads will be made available for streaming internationally from 15 February. This marks the first time the film is made available on streaming platforms.
The film features Britney Spears, Zoe Saldaña and Taryn Manning in the leading roles. The film takes audiences on a nostalgic ride back to the early 2000s as high school graduates, Lucy (Spears), Kit (Saldaña), and Mimi (Manning), embark on a spontaneous road-trip after graduating.
Netflix
has shared the exciting news on social media and displayed their enthusiasm for
bringing Britney’s breakthrough film to the international audience. "The
first movie to ever star the one and only Britney Spears has never been
available on streaming... but that's about to change!"
Crossroads
features an impeccable cast of Kim Cattrall and Dan
Aykroyd as Spears’ on-screen parents, Jamie Lyn Spears in a younger version of
Britney’s character and Justin Long as one of the group’s classmates.
Britney
Spears had reflected on the struggles she had to overcome during the production
of the film in her book, The Woman in Me. Fans can now relive the magic
of Britney’s cinematic journey with the Netflix release and witness the
beginning of her acting career.
