Lili Reinhart has turned to TikTok to share about her recent diagnosis of alopecia, a condition where the immune system attacks hair follicles, leading to hair loss. In a video posted on Monday, Reinhart shared her experience of going through red light therapy that aims to stimulate hair growth. The actress wrote, “Was just diagnosed with alopecia in the midst of a major depressive episode."
Alopecia
affects 6.7 million in the United States alone and predominantly impacts the
head and face but can lead to hair loss from any body part. Despite the fact
that there is no known cure for the condition, red light therapy is reported to
be a treatment that promotes hair growth.
Reinhard
was seen lip-syncing to audio to show the emotional turmoil she had underwent
with the captions titled, “Red light therapy is my new best friend #alopecia
#mentalhealth."
Back
in a 2020 interview, she had acknowledged the struggles and obstacles in her
career and mental health. She shared about dealing with her pain directly
instead of seeking for temporary relief from external factors and underscored
the importance of confronting her challenges rather than filling a void of
fleeting distractions.
