Dexter Darden has officially agreed to join Peacock‘s Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist limited series. He will be taking the role as the legendary heavyweight boxer, Muhammad Ali. By: Dylan Low
Referencing
the true crime podcast Fight Night by Doghouse Pictures, LLC and iHeartMedia+
Entertainment, the true crime limited series showcases how an armed robbery
during the night of Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight impacted not only one
man’s life, but a whole city. The series entails the ill-famed boxing match and
criminal underground heist that “introduced the world to the city dubbed ‘the
Black Mecca,’ and the cop and the hustler at the centre of it all,” the
description states.
Darden
will be alongside formerly announced star Kevin Hart, who also executive
produces along with Will Packer. Samuel L. Jackson is also part of the series
as notorious gangster Frank Moten, with the nickname “the Black Godfather”
given by New York tabloids.
The
film is made and written by Shaye Ogbonna, as he and Jason Horwitch serve as
showrunners and executive producers. Executive Producers would be Sabrina Wind
for Will Packer Media; Bryan Smiley and Mike Stein for Hartbeat, Conal Byrne
and Carrie Lieberman for iHeartPodcasts; Jeff Keating for Doghouse Pictures,
LLC, and Lars Jacobson. Craig Brewer will also executive produce the series and
direct several episodes. The series is produced by Universal Television LLC, as
part of Universal Studio Group.
