Vaan Varu Vaan Triumphs on Mediacorp’s Vasantham Muthal Paarvai III

Mediacorp’s commitment in nurturing local creative content has resulted in the initiation of Vasantham Muthal Paarvai in 2019 to provide a platform for independent production houses. The third edition of Vasantham Muthal Paarvai aims to fill the gap for writers in the industry with a new requirement for all participating production houses to include at least one new screenwriter as part of each teams’ writers’ room. This talent development criterion is part of Mediacorp’s efforts to nurture off-screen talents in Singapore.
Vaan
Varu Vaan launched in March 2022 on meWATCH and Mediacorp’s
YouTube Drama Channel, Vasantham Muthal Paarvai III. Now, it has evolved into
five new pilot dramas with gripping narrative across various genres from crime
thrillers to imaginative sci-fi stories. Fans were also offered a chance to
vote for their best pilot drama to be made into a series.
The
crowd favourite, Vasantham Muthal Paarvai III had clinched the title for its
compelling exploration into the theme of alternate reality as well as unique
storytelling format as two stories unfold at the same time within a plot. The increasable
performance was displayed by star-studded cast including Vikneswary Se, Eswari
Gunasagar, Stephen Zechariah and Jaynesh Isuran. The winning story follows the
life of Varu, an independent filmmaker, who gets caught up in her own romantic
screenplay. The lines between fantasy and reality starts to blur as Varu begins
to fall in love with another character in the fictional world.
This
story-within-story format kept viewers on the edge of their seats throughout
the entire plot and won raving reviews from fans.
