Lionsgate Departure from UK

Lionsgate has confirmed when it will pull its streaming service from the UK as part of its withdrawal from international markets.

Lionsgate has officially confirmed its departure date from the UK. As part of its withdrawal from international markets, the company will be pulling its streaming service out of the UK. Subscribers will be able to stream content on the Lionsgate+ platform until February 29, after which it will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

Additionally, Lionsgate+ is currently accessible on Sky through its Sky Q and Sky Stream products. This decision comes after the company’s announcement last November to focus on smaller markets and exit the UK and Australia. Approximately 10% of the staff will be laid off as part of the restructuring process, which involves separating Starz from the film studio and establishing them as two separate publicly traded entities following the acquisition of eOne.

Lionsgate made the decision to withdraw from the UK and Australia as part of a strategic shift. Last November, the company announced its intention to focus on smaller markets and streamline its operations. By exiting the UK and Australia, Lionsgate aims to allocate resources more efficiently and concentrate on other regions. The restructuring process includes separating Starz from the film studio, establishing them as two separate publicly traded entities, and optimizing their business model following the acquisition of eOne.
