FILMART is an international event that brings together creators, buyers and investors in the entertainment industry and fosters exchange and dialogue. By Ching Wai.
Hong Kong - The Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) and EntertainmentPulse gather global leading industry figures to present their most recent film projects and innovative technologies, as well as share insights. The Entertainment Expo (EE) will last for a month. Dr Peter K N Lam, the Chairman of the HKTDC, said that the event “bring[s] together the best and brightest in entertainment from around the world to Hong Kong to facilitate dialogue and collaboration.” There are 30 sessions of such various events like press conferences, project showcases, seminars, networking events and more.
Internationally, 750 exhibitors from over 25 countries and regions are participating in this year’s market, featuring more than 30 regional pavilions in regions like Hubei, Indonesia, and Macau who are participating for the first time. Notably, the HKTDC and the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) of the Thai Ministry of Commerce signed an MoU to strengthen bilateral trade ties. FILMART also saw many exhibitors from Mainland China, including first-time participants Alibaba Culture Entertainment and Bilibili, and others like Huace, iQIYI, SHanghaiYouhug Media and Tencent. Exhibitors from Hong Kong include Media Asia, Emperor Motion Pictures, Edko FIlms, Golden Scene, Mandarin Motion Picture, One Cool Pictures, PCCW Media, and Universe Films.
Innovative technologies include a virtual production studio by Hong Kong Design Institute, the latest AI, visualisation and human-machine interaction technologies applied in film creation by Hong Kong Baptise University, and a virtual production studio set up by Votion Studios in partnership with FILMART. The event’s online platform allows participants to showcase their IP projects and engage in professional business interactions globally. The Rhythm of Martial Arts Music Concert also took place, featuring renowned film music composers.
The ongoing global event truly highlights Hong Kong’s variety of creative industries and reinforces the city’s position as a regional IP trade hub, bringing together the East and the West for a vibrant international cultural exchange and the fostering of business opportunities.
