ABS-CBN’s Hit Series Heads to the Middle East

The Middle East sees a rise in video-on-demand platforms and welcomes more international works, such as ABS-CBN’s Arabic-dubbed series A Soldier’s Heart. By Ching Wai.

Middle East - A Soldier’s Heart is a Philippine hit action-drama series which has been dubbed in Arabic. ABS-CBN will be the first to distribute an Arabic-dubbed series in the Middle East. This is done after an agreement with Rabee Alhajabed Art Production & Distribution FZE. The agreement comes as video-on-demand platforms in the Middle East increase, such as with Bits in Saudi Arabia.

The ABS-CBN series will be available on the streaming platforms Maraya, Shofha, and Weyyak. This means the drama will be distributed to regions like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and other Arabic-speaking territories. The drama addresses the challenges and sacrifices that those in the military have to encounter while they uphold their allegiance to their nation. The dramatic depiction of IT expert Alex’s story has made a deep-rooted impression on viewers, and will continue to do so as the drama premieres in the Middle East.

The company responsible for the distribution of A Soldier’s Heart ABS-CBN is a global storytelling company that discovers and brings forth Filipino talent by distributing Filipino shows to global audiences across multiple platforms. It has sold over 50 000 hours of content to over 50 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. Prior to the upcoming distribution of A Soldier’s Heart, ABS-CBN has had a series of scripted format sales of A Mother’s Guilt, Mea Culpa, The Good Son, and Forevermore in the region. The successful reception of these Filipino works gives ABS-CBN the merited confidence in its strength to create stories that resonate both locally and internationally. Following A Soldier’s Heart, the action-fantasy drama and staple of Philippine popular culture, Darna, will soon be available with its own Arabic-dubbed version.

News of this distribution comes after the recent announcement of the short-form video platform launch in Saudi Arabia. The short-form video platform, Bits, was created from the collaboration between Quickplay and Saudi Telecom Company. The launches and initiatives highlight the steadily growing video entertainment market in the Middle East.
