Jackie Chan’s Fans Shock to See Him with White Hair

China - 69-year-old Hong Kong film legend Jackie Chan’s appearance at a recent event in Sichuan, China, has triggered online discussions regarding the movie star’s aged appearance, with other actors even commenting on the matter.
Not much is known about the event, but Chan, who is next slated to appear in the martial arts movie A Legend (2024) and the untitled sixth installment of the Karate Kid franchise (2024), became the subject of many online discussions ahead of his 70th birthday on April 7.
For years, the actor has appeared with black hair, leaving fans shocked when the movie star unexpectedly appeared with white hair, seemingly out of nowhere. However, according to Chinese newspaper Lianhe Zaobao, his aged appearance could be due to him appearing in Strange Family. In the film, Chan plays an elderly man who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.
In light of the recent online chatter, fellow Hong Kong action star Sammo Hung, who has trained in kung fu with Chan since childhood and co-starred in several films with him, defended Chan’s aged appearance. During the annual dinner and awards presentation held by the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild on Friday, March 15, Hung said, “Who doesn’t get old? What matters is staying healthy as one ages. Why did these people speak so badly of him? They act as if they won’t get old.”
Whether or not Chan’s new appearance will carry over into his upcoming films remains to be seen. Chan recently appeared, with black hair, with V (whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung) of the hit K-pop group BTS in a commercial for the Indonesian investment company SimInvest.
