WBD to launch Max in Europe

As announced at Series Mania, Max will begin its rollout into Europe from 21 May 2024. By Ching Wai.

Europe - From May 21 this year, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) will bring the streaming service Max into European countries for the first time. Max will first begin services in the Nordics, Iberia, and Central and Eastern Europe. Reportedly, the streaming service will then be launched in Poland, the Netherlands, France, and Belgium. After the complete rollout, Max will be available in 25 European countries and 65 other countries and territories worldwide.

Last year, Max was launched in the U.S. in May. The streaming service then expanded into all 39 territories across Latin America and the Caribbean earlier this year on 27 February, replacing the HBO Max. This official launch was the beginning of the international rollout for WBD’s enhanced streaming platform.

Max brings with it a large variety of content from WBD’s family of brands, including HBO, Warner Bros., the DC universe, Discovery, Discovery Home & Health, Investigation Discovery (ID), Cartoon Network, Discovery Kids, Cartoonito, and Adult Swim. The content includes original productions by the local communities, for example dramas Vgly and Las Bravas F.C. by Latin American creators and artists.

The CEO and president of global streaming and games at WBD JB Perrette announced the rollout of Max into Europe at Series Mania. Perrette said of the streaming service, “Max is the streaming home of Warner Bros. Discovery and builds on our long heritage in Europe, bringing together an incredible breadth and depth of culture-defining entertainment from our services and networks, all in one place. The unrivalled content we’ve got on Max—from House of the Dragon to Olympic Games Paris 2024 and beyond—means whatever your mood or the occasion, Max has something great for everyone, every time.”
