US - This week, OpenAI will conduct several meetings with Hollywood studios, talent agencies and media executives to pitch its upcoming AI-powered text-to-video generator Sora, which is expected to revolutionise and push forward the field of Artificial Intelligence.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has been preparing for this moment, attending parties during the week the 96th Oscars were held, so as to start making inroads. Whilst the service has yet to be released, several artists, designers and filmmakers have already been granted access to the service by the ChatGPT and DALL-E developer. Sora is expected to disrupt many industries, just like how ChatGPT did the same to fields like education when it was first released.
On its website, OpenAI describes Sora as “an AI model that can create realistic and imaginative scenes from text instructions.”
“Sora is able to generate complex scenes with multiple characters, specific types of motion, and accurate details of the subject and background. The model understands not only what the user has asked for in the prompt, but also how those things exist in the physical world.
The model has a deep understanding of language, enabling it to accurately interpret prompts and generate compelling characters that express vibrant emotions. Sora can also create multiple shots within a single generated video that accurately preserve characters and visual style, ” the website also states.
The upcoming release of Sora has shocked many creatives, especially those in the filmmaking community, as people worry that the AI-powered service will replace traditional jobs in the industry.
Sora is set to be released to the public later in 2024.
