Vietnam - Aiming to discover new talents and develop young talents in the film industry, Ho Chi Minh City will host its first International Film Festival from April 6 to 13 2024, bringing together nearly 200 filmmakers, directors, and actors from all over the world.
The Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival, or HIFF, is also part of a plan to contribute to the development of film in the city and Vietnam as a whole, with hopes that the event will help in establishing the city as a “film city”.
HIFF will take place at the Saigon Opera House, Lam Son Park, Nguyen Hue Walking Street and selected cinema theatres, and will be hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee – HCMC Department of Culture and Sports. The event will feature films from various genres like documentaries or dramas, and also offer industry events like panel discussions, masterclasses and workshops.
“The HCMC International Film Festival (HIFF) is an annual cinematic extravaganza that celebrates the art of storytelling through film. Nestled in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, HIFF serves as a global platform for filmmakers, industry professionals, and film enthusiasts to come together, share their love for cinema, and explore the magic of storytelling through the lens,” stated on HIFF’s website.
